Peel Studio

Privacy policy

The short version: your photos, collages, books and stickers stay on your phone. We see how the app is used, in numbers, and never what you make.

What the app does with your photos

Peel Studio reads the photos and videos you choose from your photo library, and the photos you take with its camera to make stickers. It edits them on your device and writes the result to your photo library when you save or export. Your collages, photobooks, stickers and working copies are kept in the app's own storage on your phone; deleting the app deletes them.

Your photos, videos, collages, books and stickers are never uploaded to us, with two exceptions, both at your own asking: a sticker sheet you ask us to print (see Print requests), and a sticker set you ask us to publish on LINE (see LINE sticker requests).

What leaves your phone

How the app is used, in numbers. The app tells our server when it is opened, which screen is in front and for how long, and which tools are used. These are labels, counts and durations only: never a photo, a name, or anything you typed. They carry a random identifier the app makes up the first time it runs (not your phone's own identifier; deleting the app erases it), the app's version, the kind of phone, and the language and look the app is set to. If you are signed in, they are kept with your account. Our server does not store your IP address with them: it keeps a scrambled value that changes every day, only to count how many different people opened the app.

An account, if you choose one. Signing in is optional and the app works the same without it. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address from them (Apple lets you hide your address); with an email address, we receive that address and mail it a code. We keep them in a Tsumida AI account, the same one our other apps use, and use them only to sign you in and to run your account. The account does not upload your work. You can delete it in the app, under Settings and then Account; see Delete your account.

A launch report, only when signed in. Once per launch the app sends the phone's model and system version, the app's version, the language and look in use, how many projects and stickers exist on the phone (the numbers, never the things themselves), how long the launch took, and whether the app stalled. We use it to find slow or broken builds.

Print requests, only if you send one. When you ask us to print a sticker sheet, the app sends your email address (the one you typed, or your account's), the sheet as an image, and what you chose for it: paper, finish, cut, quantity and country. When you type a postal code for a shipping address, the app asks our server which place it belongs to, so it can fill the address in; the code is not kept. Our server also records the IP address a print request came from, to stop abuse. We use all of it to make the print and to write back to you.

LINE sticker requests, only if you send one. When you use Request publish on LINE, the app sends us, with your account: the stickers in the set as images drawn to LINE's sizes (nothing else of the sticker, not the photo it was cut from), its main and tab images, the name you chose, how many stickers, the app's language, and when you agreed and to which wording. A person at Tsumida AI reviews the images. If the set passes, we submit the images, the name and the price to LINE (LY Corporation), which then holds them under its own terms. A set that is turned down or withdrawn is deleted within 90 days. The terms say what sending a set means.

What stays on your phone

Place. Peel Studio never asks for your location. If a photo you pick already carries the place it was taken, a sticker made from it can remember that place on your phone. It is never sent to us.

Stickers shared with Peel on the same phone. If Peel, our sticker app, is installed on the same phone, the two apps share your stickers through a folder on the phone that only our two apps can open. Nothing in this goes through our servers.

WhatsApp and Messages. Adding a collection to WhatsApp hands the stickers to WhatsApp on your phone, under WhatsApp's own terms. On iPhone and iPad your stickers are offered in Messages from the phone itself.

Permissions

Purchases

Template packs are bought through the App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google handles the payment; the app only learns whether you own a pack, and keeps that on the phone.

On-device features

On iPhone and iPad, cutting out a subject uses Apple's Vision framework, on the device. On Android it uses Google's ML Kit, on the device; ML Kit sends Google basic diagnostics about the feature (the device model and system version, the app's name and version, a per-install identifier, timings and error codes), never your photos.

What we do not do

No advertising, no advertising identifiers, no tracking, no third-party analytics or tracking kits, and nothing is sold or shared for marketing. This website uses no cookies.

Keeping and deleting

Everything you make lives on your phone and goes when you delete the app. Deleting your account removes your name and email address from our server, with the usage numbers and launch reports kept with it. To have a print request, or anything else we hold, removed, write to the address below.

Children

The app is not aimed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new date.
